Sabah Foundation or Yayasan Sabah’s (YS) newly introduced local nursing scholarships were outlined in an earlier post today, so I felt it would be nice to round up YS’s scholarship offerings today as well by featuring their Sabah State Excellence Award Scholarship and Russia Medical Scholarship.

The former, i.e. the Sabah State Excellence Award Scholarship, is a local scholarship for 25 Sabah students to pursue their tertiary studies at Malaysian public universities (IPTAs). This year, the value of each scholarship is expected to be around RM5,000 per year, with 15 of these going to Bumiputeras while the remaining ten split between Bumiputeras and non-Bumiputeras.

The latter, i.e. YS’s Russia Medical Scholarship, will be awarded to 10 successful applicants to study medicine at Kursk University in Russia. Each scholarship is valued at RM30,000 per year, and is arguably Yayasan Sabah’s most valuable scholarships. While the Public Services Department (PSD) does already award medical scholarships to Russia, there will never be enough medical scholarships to go around, and thus, any additional medical scholarships are a boon to aspiring doctors.
