US Financial Aid and Scholarship Resources
Published December 27th, 2005 in ScholarshipsSimilar in nature as my previous post, this one is intended for American students seeking financial aid and scholarships. Here is a list of a few noteworthy sites that provide to help for students seeking scholarships.
1) USNews.com: Paying For College
- An informative all-round resource from USNews.com - known to many students all around the world (including me) for its annual US University Rankings.
- Provides a directory of scholarships categorised by type, i.e. merit-based, need-based, etc.
2) ScholarshipNet.info
- It states that it is an educational website dedicated to delivering scholarships, grants, postdocs, and study abroad information for international students.
- There seems to be quite a lot of scholarship information available for universities in Australia, UK, US, New Zealand and more.
- The site contains many grammatical errors, but other than that, it should be okay.
3) Get College Funds
- Oregon Student Assistance Commission’s newly launched scholarship gateway to more than 320 different scholarship programs.
- It seems to be a gateway to more than 3,200 individual awards ranging from $500 to $20,000.
- Most scholarships are for Oregon residents entering or returning to college in the fall of 2006, but some are open to students from other states.
- Some scholarships are for Oregon colleges only, but many are for eligible colleges throughout the United States.
4) StudyAbroad.com: Study Abroad Scholarships
- A list of various resources available for students seeking to study abroad, from direct links to available scholarships to links to other scholarship directories
5) StudentAwards.com
- A free scholarship matching service supported by advertisements (I think).
- Requires free registration, but otherwise seems to be an excellent up-to-date service.
That’s the end of the list for now. Hopefully I’ll find time to evaluate these in more detail soon.
