Three American scholarship recepients from Arizona share their experiences and give advice to students who might want to emulate their sucesses in winning various scholarships. The scholarships involved are the Dorrance Scholarship, the Everyday Heroes Scholarship and the Nina Pulliam Scholarship.

The Dorrance Scholarship is probably the most normal of the three, where academic results are the key barometer for acceptance. The other two scholarships are less conventional. The first, the Everyday Heroes Scholarship, is a one-time gift to students with “…strong character and interscholastic achievement with an emphasis on sportsmanship and healthy lifestyle choices.”

The second, the Nina Pulliam Scholarship, is a community college scholarship for those who face “…incredible barriers to higher education…”, e.g. teenage marriage, resulting in children. This scholarship is arguably the most valuable of the three as it provides not only full tuition and student fees, but also an annual living allowance of US$2,500.

So, if you happen to be a student in Arizona who fulfills the criteria of any of the three scholarships (highly unlikely if you’re a reader of this blog), or if just want some general advice on scholarships (far more likely), try reading the full article.
