The Economic Club of Washington, DC Doctoral Research Fellowships
Published January 19th, 2006 in ScholarshipsTime for a change from all the Asian (particularly Malaysian and Singaporean) oriented scholarships. This post will concern United States Doctoral Research Fellowships for study in economics - actually, just one from the many that are available. So, post-undergraduate students interested in subject areas such as economics, finance, international trade or business, get your notebooks out (or rather, turn on your printers).
The one I’ll be talking about is the The Economic Club of Washington, DC Doctoral Research Fellowships. The applications for 2006 isn’t out yet (given that the main web page for this still shows 2005’s application procedure), but given that last year was the 16th annual incarnation of the awards, we can be quite sure that the awards will be open this year as well.
First things first, a total of two fellowships, valued at US$10000 a piece, will be awarded to , "…two doctoral-level students from Consortium institutions to support independent research in areas of interest to The Economic Club of Washington." Requirements for applicants include being enrolled at least half-time at a Consortium institution at the Ph.D. level and must agree to devote substantial time to the research project during the academic year.
For your information, Consortium universities include American University, Gallaudet University, George Mason University, Southeastern University, Joint Military Intelligence College, Trinity University, National Defense University, The George Washington University, Howard University, Marymount University and The Catholic University of America.
One point applicants should be aware of is that, "…preference will be given to those who are in or entering the dissertation phase of work…", which is fair I suppose. So, if you happen to be studying at or are interested at studying at the Consortium institutions, check out the The Economic Club of Washington, DC Doctoral Research Fellowships. When the 2006/2007 Fellowships are announced, I’ll make sure I’ll be the first to post about it.
