Malaysian Maths Prodigy Sticking With Ordinary Curriculum
Published January 4th, 2006 in Misc., NewsWell, finally we see another potential Mathematics prodigy and they decide to put him in an ordinary secondary school, studying the ordinary Standard 1 curriculum. Read about it at Bernama.com.
And I say: That’s exactly correct. While the boy, Adi Putra Abdul Ghani, can do ‘O’-level standard Maths at the tender age of six, there is no reason to fasttrack his education until he can acclimatize himself to public school life - a privilege every student should be given. If and when his abilities are completely ascertained, providing additional (i.e. more challenging) work to the child should be appropriate. The boy might then manage to avoid the path of a specially-schooled introverted genius. Of course, I’m generalizing here.
In any case, I’d say the government is exceptionally generous with the addtional monitoring and development plans they have for Adi Putra. But given the rare find of a potential Einstein, well…

blargh!!!!!!!!!
