To tell the truth, I didn’t bother watching Hitz.TV’s Blast Off! last season, or this season for that matter. But I think that doesn’t matter since all I’m going to do in this post is to report about one particular set of prizes given out to finalists of Blast Off! - scholarships to the Lim Kok Wing Institute of Creative Technology (LICT) in Malaysia.

RM500,000 worth of scholarships to LICT were handed out to Blast Off! Season 2’s finalists, where 10 were full scholarships and 20 were partial scholarships. Malay Mail Online deemed LICT’s move as a “…novel and compelling way of promoting their institution while recognising that creativity and progression of the Malaysian music industry is a worthy investment…”, and I agree completely.

Hopefully LICT’s “novel” approach to marketing will be picked up by other private colleges in Malaysia.
