IPTA Application Deadline Extended

With all the recent problems with the Higher Education Ministry’s online public university (IPTA) application websites (www.emoe.gov.my and www.mohe.gov.my), the original deadline of 10 working days after the release of examination results has been extended to March 31st for both STPM and SPM students. This, of course, comes in the wake of a barrage of complaints from students who failed to access the two websites before the original deadline.

Again (remember the postponing of the JPA online scholarship applications?), the problems have been attributed to the high amount of traffic resulting from the many university applicants flooding the websites. But since there’s really no point rubbing salt into the wound, I’ll won’t bother reminding those in charge that these type of technical problems could have been anticipated in advance.

In any case, the deadline extension is a correct move (though expected), and we can only hope that next year (which should be the third year the online application system will be used), students will no longer have to worry about technical problems.
