Singaporean students who opted to receive emails by Brightsparks should have begun receiving invitations (just a notice, really) to apply for several government or government-linked scholarships. A few examples would be the FIREfly Scholarship and the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore Scholarship.

Both local and overseas scholarships are offered by both agencies. The closing date for applications is 2 weeks after the release of "A" levels results.

For those that do not know, FIREfly is an alliance of government agencies that aims to "… attract, identify and nurture talents to spur the economic development of Singapore." The alliance consists of seven statutory boards - A*STAR, the Economic Development Board (EDB), Energy Market Authority (EMA), International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, JTC Corporation, SPRING Singapore and Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
