Great Eastern Supremacy Overseas Scholarship Award
2 Comments Published March 28th, 2006 in News, ScholarshipsGreat Eastern Life Assurance (Malaysia) Berhad recently announced that they are offering overseas, regional and local scholarships for Malaysian students to study a variety of courses, including Actuarial Science and Information Technology. However, this post will outline only one of these scholarships: The Great Eastern Supremacy Overseas Scholarship Award.
This particular scholarship is valued at RM40,000 in tuition fees and RM10,000 in living expenses per academic year, for students to study Actuarial Science or Information Technology at “top-notch overseas universities”. No offense intended here, but I double-quoted “top-notch overseas universities” because I just can’t see how students can pay for real top notch overseas universities with that kind of money. Top UK universities that offer Actuarial Science and Information Technology degrees (e.g. LSE, Imperial) will cost you at least RM65,000 in tuition fees per year. But I suppose RM40,000 could get you Australia.
Moreover, the attached bond, 7 years, is relatively long, at least in comparison with the 6 years for most corporate overseas scholarship bonds.
In any case, beggars can’t be choosers. So, if you really need an overseas scholarship for Actuarial Science, the Great Eastern Supremacy Overseas Scholarship Award would be a good addition to your application list.
The closing date for applications is the 15th of May, 2006. For more information (including the scholarship application form), visit Great Eastern’s website.
