I know I’m late on this one (but no matter since the dateline is 30th May 2006), but given that I see quite a few people coming in to this site looking for information on this AMCHAM-MACEE scholarship for Malaysians, here it goes.
Here’s some tidbits on the history of this scholarship. Even though they state that the AMCHAM-MACEE scholarship began in 1998, it was only in 2000 that the official scholarship began. In 2000, AMCHAM-MACEE offered a partial scholarship of only USD 5000 per annum. Its first recepient was Rebecca Khor Keng Li, most probably an ASEAN scholar who studied at National Junior College. She went for either a genetic or biotechnology degree at Cornell University.
Last year (2004/2005), Ms. Chin Mun Yuk won the AMCHAM-MACEE scholarship to study liberal arts at the University of Virginia. Hmm, I do not seem to see any male recepients here… but I can’t seem to find any data for the second, third and fourth recepients, so I can’t really say anything conclusive…
Now, for a short excerpt from the AMCHAM-MACEE site:
AMCHAM created a scholarship endowment program in 1998 to benefit deserving Malaysian students seeking to pursue their undergraduate studies in the United States. The AMCHAM-MACEE 2006 Scholarship annually awards a US$20,000 scholarship, covering four years of undergraduate study in the United States. The scholarship is open to qualified Malaysian students who are accepted to an accredited university in the United States for four years of study culminating in a Bachelors degree. The student must be accepted for Fall semester, 2006.

So that’s another Malaysian scholarship for those aspiring to study overseas. Malaysia doesn’t have that many, but comparatively, it has quite a lot (compared to many other countries worldwide, really…). Next, I’ll probably highlight another Malaysian overseas scholarship.
